Powerful acceleration, outstanding handling characteristics and top efficiency levels: with hybrid technology, the combustion engine and the electric engine work together very successfully. The full hybrid is able to run on electric power alone with low emissions for some phases of the journey. The vehicle is therefore virtually silent – for up to 3 km at a constant speed of 60 km/h. The energy needed for running on electricity alone is supplied by the compact, lightweight and exceptionally powerful lithium-ion battery. The progressive hybrid technology has already been introduced in the Audi Q5 hybrid quattro and Audi A6 hybrid models – shortly it will also be available for the Audi A8 hybrid. A further step towards a low-emissions future.
