Using the sun’s energy for cooling. Now that’s an innovation.
The photovoltaic elements incorporated under glass into the sunroof produce an electrical current even at the lowest levels of solar radiation, and thus provide power for the fan in the vehicle. Even with the ignition switched off, the interior is thus constantly supplied with fresh air and the temperature level in the car can be reduced by as much as 50% by the flow of air from outside – from which dust and pollen are extracted as it enters the car. This preliminary cooling enables the air-conditioning system to reduce the internal temperature to the required level more quickly, with low energy consumption and less use of the fan. The vehicle battery is not run down by this mode of ventilation – saving fuel.
