Start-stop system

All engines are equipped with the efficient start-stop system. It usually stops the engine automatically when the car comes to a standstill, for example when you are waiting at a red light. The engine starts up again when the brake is released. This reduces both fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Recuperation

The recuperation system recovers energy during coasting and braking phases by means of intelligent alternator voltage regulation, and then temporarily stores this energy in the battery. When the vehicle accelerates again, the energy flows back into the vehicle electric system, taking the strain off the alternator and thus saving fuel.

Driver information system with efficiency program

The driver information system display concentrates numerous individual displays centrally in the cockpit, and permanently indicates the vehicle’s current operating state. The efficiency program integrated as standard also provides the driver with an overview of consumption data, display of additional loads and fuel-saving tips for particularly economic driving. The integrated attention assist also analyses driving behaviour using a range of sensors and warns the driver if anything indicates that he is starting to become inattentive.

Audi drive select® efficiency mode

The Audi drive select® efficiency mode puts the vehicle in a particularly efficient state and provides active support for the driver, helping him to drive in a way that can reduce fuel consumption. Engine and transmission react in such a balanced way that further potential savings can be utilised. Thus, for example, a modified shifting program for automatic transmissions with a conscious movement of gearshift point to lower speed ranges stands out through improved fuel consumption in operation. The electromechanical power steering, cruise control, optional dynamic steering and adaptive cruise control contribute to reducing driving resistance. The air conditioning is also adapted to requirements in that it is switched to eco mode. This efficient driving style in the Audi drive select efficiency mode makes more mileage per tank filling possible, reducing CO₂ emission at the same time.
