The Audi A8 LConsistently efficient

The brand claim “Vorsprung durch Technik” encapsulates the cutting-edge technology that is at the very heart of the Audi brand. Not just in the domain of sportiness, but also when it comes to a form of future-proof mobility. Audi consistently applies various efficiency measures within the framework of an all-embracing concept. As the developer of numerous innovations, we have made a lasting impact on automotive engineering.

  • Audi Space Frame ASF®

The aluminium used for the Audi Space Frame (ASF) is light, offers greater design freedom for castings and extruded sections than steel, and the components made from it exhibit high rigidity. The ASF construction principle permits sporty handling coupled with reduced consumption.

  • FSI® engine

With FSI® technology, fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. This achieves more effective cylinder filling and compression ratios than on engines with conventional injection. The result is lower fuel consumption yet equally good performance.

  • Energy recovery

The energy recovery system converts kinetic energy into electrical energy during phases when the car is coasting or braking. When the car accelerates again, the battery directs the temporarily stored energy back into the vehicle, to relieve the alternator and thereby save fuel.

  • LED technology

LEDs are used at many points in the Audi A8 L – the optional full LED headlights are a particularly striking feature, as are the LED daytime running lights and the LED rear lights. LEDs are made to last the lifetime of the vehicle and the saving in power consumption that they offer is as much as half compared with conventional bulbs.
